一群退役的特种兵队员因为队友家人的遇袭又再次团结到一起。为了调查真相，大家纷纷拿出了看家本领，寻求最终的正义。。1931年夏，从西山女中毕业的林道静为了追求自由，选择了抗婚出逃，走投无路的她觉得天下之大却没有她的容身之所，茫然之下想要投海自尽，被大学生余永泽救回。热情而多才的余永泽一下子感动了林道静。 在北平，林道静结识了进步学生、共产党员卢嘉川、江华等人，明白了许多革命救国的道理。而在这些问题上，余永泽却和自己有着截然不同的观点。在一次学生运动中，卢嘉川因为余永泽的不肯帮助而遭到被捕。 林道静毅然离开了余永泽，加入到了风起云涌的爱国学生运动中。当局一次次的陷害和逮捕让林道静成长为一名成熟的学生运动领袖。 在又一次的爱国游行运动中，林道静走在队伍的最前列。 古老的中华大地，回荡着这代青年用鲜血和生命谱写的青春之歌……。The film tells the story of a small train riding without its driver and the passengers locked inside.
