该片讲述了在上世纪二十年代，江苏南通的伶工学社有一批国内最早学习话剧的孩子们，他们为在这乱世中活着而挣扎，为推广话剧而煞费苦心，他们融贯中西，将一样舶来品内化成自我表达，最终感染了所有人，共同为社会思想进步推波助澜。。Minjae is a highschool teacher during the day, but at dusk, he goes out on the streets and join with youth who are alienated from school and home.
