1942年欧洲卷起纳粹浪潮 ，法国亦不能幸免，巴黎有过万名犹太人被警察拘捕送往集中营，孩子被迫与父母分离，部份更被分批屠杀。11岁的犹太少女莎拉 与家人亦难逃一劫，为保护弟弟，她将弟弟锁在房间小秘室中免被警察拘捕。最终莎拉与家人被送往集中营，可是她一直紧握着小秘室的钥匙，希望有日可逃回家拯救弟弟。。莱娜在父亲的阴影下每天过著地狱般的生活，她唯一来往的对象是旅馆同事穆法塔斯，莱娜从未答应但也没拒绝他的追求，痛苦的莱娜只想挣脱生活中的恶性循环；在城市的另一端，有位技师正为他刚过世的妻子哀伤，一只装有他妻子衣物的行李箱，竟出其不意地改变莱娜的命运… Because of her father's inappropriate behavior, Zeynep, a hotel housekeeper, spends hellish nights.
