One night he manages to catch up with his persecutor and tries to get him to talk but in the ensuing struggle he accidentally stabs him. He runs away, but he understands his troubles have just begun when the following day he receives an envelope with photos of him killing the man. Someone is killing all his friends and trying to frame him for the murders...。故事开始于1949年，程瑞祥（岳华 饰）带着妻子林丽卿（梁淑庄 饰）从大陆逃亡香港，迫于生计，程瑞祥竟然将妻子卖给他人。之后，满心愧疚和后悔的程瑞祥结识了赵大年（良鸣 饰）和车月亭（平凡 饰）等人，一场意外中，赵大年因触犯法律而被发配帝汶岛，他将自己的儿子振鹏（刘志荣 饰）托付给了程瑞祥抚养。之后，程瑞祥的事业逐渐红火，后与郑带好（周慧娟 饰）结为夫妻，总算在香港站稳了脚跟。
然而，程瑞祥的内心里一直都没有忘记过林丽卿，最终，无法忍受良心谴责的他还是离开了现在的妻子，与重逢的林丽卿再婚了。这一选择导致程瑞祥的事业一落千丈。。
