16世纪末4月的一天，暴雨浸淫下的京都，某座并不起眼的宅邸内，一代名流的人生正走向尽头。房屋的主人乃是举世尊奉的茶道宗师千利休（市川海老藏 饰），遥想当年，他在战国乱世得到了织田信长（伊势谷友介 饰）的赏识，并曾以其影响力救助了命悬一线的羽柴秀吉（大森南朋 饰）。英雄霸业烟消云散，秀吉成为新一代枭雄，却渐渐不满利休那种对美毫不妥协的追求以及对强权的漠然蔑视。本不该有交集的二人，裂痕愈来愈大，这似乎也注定了利休的悲剧。
