本剧基于真实事件、2004年法国纪录片《楼梯悬案》、书籍《Written in Blood》等素材创作而成。故事将探索Michael Peterson的生活，他那位于北卡罗来纳州的大家庭，以及他妻子Kathleen Peterson十分可疑的死亡。。A man is framed by two corrupt cops for drugs. After he gets out of prison, he comes after them.。中年画家在监狱教画，发现一名青年杀人犯有着极高绘画天份，却为此惹来一场风波，也改变了彼此的命运……。
