三年前，京都发生一起未成年少女绑架案。少女父母按照要求交付赎金，但警方缺位抓住犯罪嫌疑人。两个月后女孩的尸体被人发现，随后名叫山崎哲也（长谷川朝晴 饰）的男子被捕，刑讯过后山崎认罪，一审二审均被判处死刑。而律师樱木希久子（财前直见 饰）经过调查相信警方为了掩饰调查过程中的失误，有意对山崎屈打成招。她一方面鼓励山崎上诉，另一方面找到当年跟踪报道该事件的全日通信社会部记者恩田和志（椎名桔平 饰），希望他能协助揭开事件的真相。虽然正处在人生的窘迫时期，但一名新闻工作者的职业道德还是促使恩田踏上寻找真相的征程…… 本片根据绪川怜的原作改编。。Based on a true story. 1996, open sea.
