1929年，年少时的佐藤先生应邀父亲之命，来到中国南京向师傅求学围棋精髓，结识了师傅之女吴花子，两人以棋热恋百年好合，不料几年后中日战争爆发，1937年12月佐藤随军大举进攻中国首都，见证南京城内史无前例的疯狂屠杀，在当年师傅的四合院中，佐藤正准备解开一盘围棋的残局，手下抓来了一个女人。Josh (Keegan-Michael Key) and Melissa (Cecily Strong) miss the magic they felt in Schmigadoon and in an attempt to return, find themselves in Schmicago—the reimagined world of ’60s and ’70s musicals.
