故事发生于英国的剑桥和爱尔兰最北的小郡多内加尔。 一位英语系学生Ophelia，爱上了自己已婚的讲师Michael，当他们的婚外情经历令人震惊与悲伤的死亡后，Ophelia发现自己陷入了癫狂，她已无法再相信自己的头脑。。Alejandro and Ana take their family on vacation to a remote island in southern Chile.
