一个偶然的机会，消防战士石鹏得知自己所在的平安消防队的队长周余就是在七年前在那场大火中单枪匹马救出自己的英雄，但同时，石鹏也从别人嘴里得知一个让他难以接受的事实，这个给了自己消防信仰的英雄，却是一个在火场里“见死不救”的“胆小鬼”，更让石鹏没有想到的是，周余当着他的面并没有否认这样的传言。 这对石鹏以及他的信仰无疑是个巨大的打击，在经历了所有的迷惑之后，石鹏选择了坚信。他坚信那些对周余的“微辞”中一定另有隐情，而当年那个平安小学的音乐教室里到底发生了什么？ 于是，石鹏开始走进那场多年前的著名的小学火灾，去挖掘事情的真相，去捍卫自己的英雄，自己的信仰……。该剧讲述了一位当地青少年揭开她家庭秘密的过去，并在南非一所高中的复杂世界中航行。。Plebs is described as "a thoroughly modern comedy in an ancient setting."
