华灯初上的大都会上海滩，上海金星地产老板钱寿昌的专车遭到一伙持枪之人的袭击。枪声惊动正在附近大排档吃饭的法租界巡捕房探长钟朗（钟汉良 饰）及其搭档韩非（释小龙 饰），二人顶住火力出手相助，终于击退那伙歹徒，但对方的身手和逃跑时留下的奇怪数字引起钟朗的注意。次日一早，钱老板来到巡捕房致谢，他挖角不成，于是力邀钟朗过几天为他的五十大寿宴席担任保镖。钟朗和韩非拿着歹徒丢落的步枪求助医科大学女教授于胜男（齐芳 饰），进而发现更多疑点，他更断定钱老板隐藏了某些不可告人的事实。 不久，寿宴如期在戒备森严的钱府举行，三教九流各路人等纷纷来到，热闹祥和的表象下，杀机慢慢腾起……。Survival hangs in the balance for a group of teenage girls stranded on a deserted island, after the explosive discovery that what's happening to them is an elaborate social experiment.
