北朝时期，边关告急，朝廷招兵御敌。花木兰因父亲年老，决定女扮男装替父从军，由于英勇善战，三年之后被提为校尉。刘元度与她志趣相投，结为莫逆之交。番主准备暗袭边关，派两名番将诈降，以重金买通元帅军师。木兰见阵前群鸟惊飞，知道番军必有重大行动。诈降番将纵火被捉，供出军师通敌实情。元帅杀死军师和番将，不幸被另一番将暗箭射中。元帅临终保举木兰接任元帅一职，木兰打败番军。朝廷论功行赏，木兰辞官返乡，恢复女装，与元度结为夫妻。。After the tremendous popular success of the Fantômas novels, both of the major French film studios — Pathé and Gaumont — vied for the rights to produce films based on the series.
