Minke's father, who has just been appointed as regent, is always against Minke's closeness to the Nyai's family, because a Nyai's position at the...。巧娘和麻瘋病的父親相依為命，某夜巧娘私藏麻瘋病父親之事敗露，巧娘在目睹父親被活活燒死後被放在掛著疫旗的小船飄向遠方，恰逢台灣島陳福生大船路過救下了巧娘，甦醒後巧娘出逃被人販子賣至親生母親做老鴇的妓院，之後巧娘輾轉成為陳家丫鬟，陳家女主人病逝前托孤給巧娘，巧娘也成為陳家的繼室，與陳福生又生一子。巧娘雖善良盡職，仍被陳家親威排斥。陳福生死，巧娘更被趕走，帶著親生子文華回娘家居住。文華成長，為身世憤恨出外流浪，到蘇州以賣鴨蛋為生，又娶當地財主之女致富，惟仍不認生母，巧娘孤然一生以終。
